How to prepare for the weekend:
It´s seems to be wise to buy a 2-day visitor local traffic ticket, see also our new plans for Saturday evening, we will publish soon instructions how to buy and where a 2-day ticket, it´will be from 10 euros (1st day 6 euros, next ones 4 euros each). There will be members helping people buy the cards in the afternoon around 17 in the center .
Welcome party at 18:00 (Hanna´s meeting room outside the center, there will be members in the afternoon/evening to guide the guests to Hanna´s place from center (and also bus information updated soon)->
-kitchen/barbeque
->everybody brings something to eat/share +their own drinks
-beach about 2 km away
-possibility to visit the legendary Saluuna (local suburban pub)
22:00 time to leave to explore the nightlife of Tampere (on festival weekend there will literally be night life, till dawn, on the streets)
-Sightseeings around at noon, there are some options to choose from to those not sleeping late, these will be informed more detail in friday welcome party
-Viikinsaari visit (a beautiful island, by boat 20min from Laukontori (centrally located), 7€ per person, 6€ from students), afternoon (ferries leave once an hour, there can be 2 group leaving together at different times) , like 13/14 o´clock.
-picnic, barbegue, swimming, outdoor activities, great nature
-After island visit people can sozialize with each other, visit hosts´places etc. for couple hours and get prepared the sauna experience.
- On Saturday evening we visit the most tradiotional public sauna called Rajaportti in Finland, it´s located in the most beatiful housing area Pispala in Tampere (outside center, good bus connections), it´s booked for our private use from 22 until night, we have to charge 2-3 euro from everybody who wants to join to cover our expenses but we promise it´s worth it-> you will get some sort of wristband which shows you are a member and paid the fee, it´s safer for all of us to recognize members at entrance .
Also some sightseeing is arranged in Pispala before/during/after sauna experience.
- Night life / alternatively night time sightseeings, like seeing sun rise...., maybe on the back to center
IMPORTANT to NOTE: In Rajaportti Sauna area you can have your own drinks but not enjoy them in restaurant area (seats, tables) until 23 (closing time) o´clock, so it´s only allowed to drink inside dressing rooms!!! In addition, we area responsible for cleaning up all area, so behave accordingly during your stay, put waste garbage cans, dont break bottles etc. Just enjoy Sauna experience and good company.
UPDATE: HC Katiaurora can organize a frisbeegolf tournament in Tampere after Viikinsaari, if the weather is good, let us know how many of you are
interested to join
-Sightseeings, swimming, program will be made later based on interests, weather. ; e.g. longer walking / bus trip to the Pyynikki tower in Tampere central area.
-a possibility visit mikara´s summer cottage 75 kilometers from Tampere for couple of hours until afternoon, ride from/to Tampere available up to 4 people available, targeted in the first place to foreigners, who´ve not visited Finnish cottage/countryside (boating, national park, swimming…). Please book straight from mikara (mikara@suomi24.fi) , if you are interested to visit.
During the event there will be lots of concerts availalble, see details, ticket prices etc. www.tammerfest.net. Tampere has nice clubs for dancing, rocking, headbanging, group can divide to smaller teams with same interests.
